The culprit causing temporary amnesia
Lack of sleep, stress, poor nutrition, and alcohol abuse can cause temporary memory loss.
Transient amnesia (short-term memory loss) is a sudden loss of memory, causing the brain to lose a certain amount of memory, while other previous data still exists.
Doctor Hoang Quyet Tien, Medical Information Center, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said that temporary memory loss can be a warning sign of dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's.
People with temporary memory loss often have some symptoms such as suddenly forgetting recent events and information, being anxious, having negative thoughts, often watching TV and using the phone for hours, and asking the same questions repeatedly.
According to Dr. Tien, some of the following factors contribute to temporary amnesia.
Prolonged stress and depression cause fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and poor memory. These conditions increase the activity of free radicals in the body, damage nerve cells, and thereby impair nerve function.
Lack of sleep, frequent insomnia directly affects brain function, increases inflammation. Cerebral ischemia also leads to temporary memory loss.
A diet lacking in nutrients such as omega-3, omega-6, iron, phosphatidylserine, and DHA limits blood circulation to the brain, causing damage to the brain.

Heavy drinking and smoking increase the production of inflammatory cytokines, leading to chemical changes in the brain. Signal transmission and memory are reduced. Smoking also increases the risk of calcification of the hippocampus, a brain region that plays an important role in memory.
Overusing electronic devices instead of memory makes the brain "lazy". Over time, the brain's memory becomes poor, easily forgetting even familiar events.
Doctor Tien said that from the time a person is born until he dies, the number of central nervous system cells is not born, but gradually dies over time.
After the age of 25, about 3,000 brain nerve cells die every day, and brain function weakens due to reduced connections between nerve cells.
Short-term memory loss does not have a clear impact on physical health, but early intervention is needed to prevent dementia. Each person needs to maintain an optimistic spirit, think positively, and regularly train their brain and memory by reading books, learning foreign languages, playing chess, and doing crossword puzzles.
Relieve and reduce stress through activities such as exercising, meeting friends, arranging reasonable rest and work time, and getting 7-9 hours of sleep every day.

A balanced and nutritious diet, eat lots of green vegetables and fresh fruits, increase the intake of nutrients rich in omega-3, DHA, and iron. Dr. Tien said that proactively supplementing biological active ingredients from blueberries and ginkgo biloba has the effect of fighting free radicals, increasing blood flow to the brain, and increasing nerve connections. Thereby, preventing and supporting the treatment of memory loss, nourishing brain cells, and maintaining clear memory.
