Olympic shooter causes a stir because he doesn't use a scope or protective gear

Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec caused a stir on social media because he did not use specialized equipment during competition and still won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dikec, 51, and teammate Sevval Ilayda Tarhan won a silver medal in the 10m air pistol team event at the Paris Olympics on July 30.

The image of shooter Dikec participating in the competition has gone viral on social media because of his relaxed demeanor. This shooter only uses earplugs, does not wear specialized glasses or ear protection. While aiming, Dikec puts his hands in his pockets.

An account with 4 million followers on social network X posted a photo of shooter Dikec with the description "Turkey sent a 51-year-old man, without specialized glasses, without using a device to cover one eye or use ear protection and still won a silver medal".

This photo attracted more than 53 million views, more than 770,000 likes and thousands of comments.

"Looks like a professional killer," one X account humorously commented.

"Is Türkiye sending a killer to the Olympics?", another account wrote.

"He put his hands in his pockets, opened his eyes wide and brought home the silver medal," one person wrote.

Dikec is participating in his fifth Olympics, since his first at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The silver medal on July 30 was Dikec's first medal at an Olympics.
