ITALY The former world number one golfer did not accompany him, but always asked and encouraged him when the US team prepared to defend the Ryder Cup on the European team's Marco Simone Stadium.

"Tiger is always an insider and has put a lot of effort into the home team all year," US captain Zach Johnson said about Woods during this year's Ryder Cup campaign. "That is shown through many messages to members and the team leading the team, including me. This match, we will maximize his knowledge and experience."

On September 29, the professional men's team pit tournament between Europe and the US will open its 44th round, at Marco Simone Stadium, on the outskirts of Rome.

Last time, Europe visited Whistling Straits Stadium in Wisconsin and lost miserably 9-19. This time, they are the hosts and have the right to set up the field. America has never won as a guest in the past 30 years.

Woods owns 15 majors in a record of 82 cups on the PGA Tour, in addition to the milestone of 683 weeks as world number one. On the Ryder Cup front, he won eight caps for the US team, but only won once in 1997.

Woods most recently competed in the Ryder Cup in 2018, at Le Golf National on the outskirts of Paris. At that time, he held the position of vice-captain, played three matches and lost all of them. However, as the US captain at the 2019 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Woods led the home team to win the International team with a score of 16-14.

Woods is currently limited in competition, only competing in major tournaments due to his health worsening after a near -fatal traffic accident near Los Angeles in February 2021. Because of that, this week's world professional men's golf table recorded him ranked 1,241.
