3 must-try experiences in Singapore during Mid-Autumn Festival

In Singaporean culture, Mid-Autumn Festival is the season of reunion. On this occasion, Singapore's streets are brighter than ever and many entertainment activities are organized. Below are addresses to help visitors enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere when coming to Singapore, according to suggestions from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Time: September 15 - October 1. Location: 18 Marina Gardens Drive

Visiting Gardens by the Bay during the Mid-Autumn Festival, visitors can admire a lantern exhibition inspired by Chinese mythology to honor the reunion and connection between loved ones. At the Flower Dome garden, visitors will learn about more than 80 species of chrysanthemums, including species that only appear in Southeast Asia. Visitors should also not miss the opportunity to enjoy special moon cakes with rose macadamia and melon seed flavors only available at this place.

Gardens by the Bay's festival program with traditional music performances and entertainment activities is an ideal experience for the whole family.

Festival in Chinatown (Chinatown)

Families will clearly feel the Mid-Autumn festival atmosphere in Chinatown, where the streets are bright with sparkling lanterns. This year's festival with the theme "A Journey of Love and Celebration" takes place at Kreta Ayer square.

From September 15 to October 14, when the sun sets, the streets of New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen, South Bridge Road and Upper Cross will transform into a world of festivals. Visitors should visit the fair in front of the People's Park Complex building or the food area on Smith Street to shop for handmade products and enjoy specialties.

In addition, visitors can visit 12 Tai Gin Road to participate in the Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival. Here, you can pose in front of outdoor installations, check-in with giant panda lanterns only available during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Participate in a class to make lanterns and moon cakes

Enjoy the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival by making your own paper lantern collages at Artisan Han studio. Visitors can choose the appropriate course according to their interests and level, from painting and decorating lanterns, making simple lantern collages, and creating traditional lantern shapes.

In addition, visitors can participate in classes on making pies and cold mooncakes, also known as snowskin mooncakes. These are two traditional dishes of Singaporeans. By participating in the course, you will be given detailed instructions on basic theory, ingredients and baking techniques so you can prepare the above two cakes yourself. If you don't like baking, visitors can visit the shopping stalls at Takashimaya at 391A Orchard Road, selling more than 50 types of moon cakes, from local to international. Visitors can find many attractive gifts for relatives on this occasion.
