20 world-famous tourist destinations most criticized by tourists in 2023

The Eiffel Tower, London Eye, and the Colosseum top the list of most complained about by tourists because they have to wait too long and wait in long lines.

Tripadvisor relied on more than 10.7 million traveler reviews of 100 famous tourist destinations around the world to find the most criticized places. Tourist complaints mostly contain the phrase "long queues" or "waited too long".

Topping the list is the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris and France with nearly 5,000 complaints of "having to wait in line for a long time". Ranked second are the London Eye in England and the Colosseum in Italy.

"The Eiffel Tower gets 5 stars but one star is for the huge crowd and long queues," a tourist left a comment on Tripadvisor. Another person suggested buying tickets online or booking a guided tour to enjoy the no-waiting policy.

London Eye also received similar comments. The famous British tourist destination has 32 cabins with a capacity of 800 guests per departure. However, the waiting time for each customer can still be up to nearly an hour with a long waiting line, moving little by little.

The next famous destinations on this unwanted list are Legoland Windsor Resort amusement park in the UK, Sagrada Familia church in Spain, Empire State Building in the US. Alton Towers Resort in the UK ranked 7th, Siam Park Water Park in Spain ranked 8th. Disneyland Paris ranked 9th and Universal Studios Singapore entered the top 10.

Commenting on Empire State, one tourist said the main minus point is that the queue is too long. Customers spend 15-20 minutes queuing on the street before waiting another 10-15 minutes for their turn to go through the inspection gate and then waiting the same time to get into the elevator.
